JULY 2020 DIVIDEND INCOME

That was fast.  Live goes fast when dodging the virus I suppose.   So I am blogging with protective gear - because I want you all to stay safe....

In the dividend income world, 22 companies paid me for being alive this month, sending a total of $1098.75 my way.

And the big one was Whitehorse Finance (WHF).  One company paid 40% of my total income.  Can you say major red flag?   ðŸš©ðŸš©ðŸš©

This red flag resulted in me doing this..

It had had a good 4 year run for me.

But I do believe that this is the end of the massive dividend.  A nearly 1000% dividend payout ratio is just not sustainable.  Especially in the mortgage market when we have had a 33% shrinking of the economy from last Q2.

I will be writing more about this in an upcoming post, and tell you the major life events that spurned this move and in the midst of this outbreak, what we decided to do.

Here's the list.

OK, but I am motivated more than ever to invest in Dividend Aristocrats that are on solid footing.  No more high yield REITS or companies that buy mortgages from companies that buy mortgages, etc.   Solid companies like AFL, JNJ, MMM, T, and Pepsi will be getting my business from here on out.   I will hold onto my Realty Income (O) shares, but I lost the interest in rolling the dice.

'Till next month - STAY SAFE.

2020 GOAL UPDATE THROUGH JULY 2020

Posting my 2020 New Years' goals was a great idea.  It forced me to focus on meeting these goals or otherwise look like a massive chump.

Not only did I keep up with my goals, but I have completed the goal of matching all but one of my goals for the year.   This is a twisted way to find a positive in the Covid lockdown.  I just could not spend my money.   But I did trade in my car for a Prius.

PERSONAL PROGRESS:

1. Take a spring road trip.  Yellowstone would be ideal.  THREE WEEKS FROM A 10 DAY  TRIP THROUGH OREGON AND NORTHERN CALIFORNIA IN THE NEW RIDE.
 I CAN'T WAIT

2. Exercise more.  KEEPING UP.  SORT OF.

3. Drop about 20 lbs.   STILL DOWN ONLY 8.  I JUST LOVE THE AFTER WORK SNACKS

4. Drink more green tea. STILL HITTIN' IT.  ADDING SOME JASMINE AND EARL GREY

5. Sell off some of my record collection.   It was a long term goal to sell eventually.  Well, I have run out of room.  I think I would rather sell than keep some of the ones I rarely listen to.  SOLD A DIO AND MEGADETH ALBUM FOR A BUCK EACH.  JUST NOT INTO THE METAL THING

6. Improve piano skills and improve guitar skills. PLANNING ON RELEASING AN AMBIENT ALBUM LATER THIS YEAR.  STILL WORKING ON IT.

ALSO CREATED SOME COOL NON AMBIENT STUFF.
HERE IS "THE MOON" CREATED WHILE WATCHING A STAR TREK EPISODE AND PLAYING WITH SOME SIMPLE KEY RIFFS.

Chickenwizard - "The Moon"

7. Blog more. PSHAW

8. Enjoy more oysters like these.  MY FAVORITE OYSTER BAR, THE BROOKLYN, IN DOWNTOWN SEATTLE, CLOSED FOR GOOD.   THEY DID NOT WANT TO DO TAKEOUT OR WAIT THIS OUT.  THEY HAD AT LEAST 10 DIFFERENT OYSTERS READY TO GO AT ALL TIMES.  OH I WILL MISS THIS SO.

SEE YOU SOON!

JULY 2020 DIVIDEND INCREASES - UPDATE!!

Well, this will be a short post.  Here goes.

After going nutzo about no increases or decreases, I discovered two companies that increased the dividend.   So there goes that rant.

But I do love the eggs, they will stay.

Got a 9.8% gain from American States Water.   Not a very popular one to won by div growth investors because of the low yield.  But over time (6 years now), I have a 3.45% yield thanks to increases like the one we got this month.

Everyone needs water and electricity.  Especially in a dry place like California.   Owning AWR is a no brainer for me.

I also got a nice increase form UL, Unilever.

I guarantee you, you have a Unilever product in your home.  Dove soap, Lipton, Hellmans/Best Foods, Klondike, Popsicle, Jif, Red Rose, All, Axe, Q-Tips, Ponds, Dollar Shave Club, Vaseline,

They also are the world's largest ice cream manufacturers owning Ben & Jerrys', Breyers, Klondike, and a bunch of brands in Europe.

UL is solid to own in my opinion.

JUNE 2020 DIVIDEND INCREASES

Dividend increases were minimal in June.  Maybe I missed some....

The big surprise was AMNF cutting theirs by 36.4%.   That sucked.

The big increase by TWO was actually a resumption of the suspended dividend.  But it came back at 1/4 of what it used to pay.  Better than nothing.

Hopefully July will be more interesting.
